With the fall, comes change. The air gets a little crispier and for us, that feeling pulling you towards the outdoors grows strong. Surely, we aren't the only ones that feel this way? We are beyond thrilled to announce our upcoming launch of "Please Go Outside" the podcast. This podcast will be all about our outdoor adventures and how we find the time and resources to make it happen. In this blog post, I will give you a little sneak peek into what you can expect from our upcoming episodes as we share our love for exploring with you.
Connecting with Nature and How Important it is:
While I may be hesitant to sign up for every adventure Taylor puts in front of me - it never fails that I come back completely renewed. There is just something about fresh air and becoming grounded in nature. I have always felt a pull towards sunshine, as silly as it sounds, my windows are ALWAYS open when the temperature falls below 90, even if that drives Taylor insane. I will always choose to sit outside at a restaurant if the opportunity is available and I hardly ever drive with the windows up. One of my favorite books, which I will reference a lot says, "The average person now spends 93% of their life indoors. This includes your transportation time; car, bus, or metro. 93%! Such a staggering piece of information. We should pause for a moment and let the tragedy sink in. That means, if you live to be 100, you will have spent 93 of those years in a little compartment and only 7 outside in the dazzling, living world." Chapter 7, "Get Your Life Back" by John Eldredge. All of this to say that you have to make an effort to get outside. And when I say "get outside" I don't necessarily mean to go backpacking through the mountains, I mean just go sit on your porch for a minute, take a walk, open a window, choose outside instead of inside at a restaurant. Even if it's uncomfortable at first - you will see the benefits. I am so passionate about this topic which is where the title for the podcast came from. I am begging you, please go outside.
Practical Tips and Advice:
We bring Lottie almost everywhere we go. At the moment, she is a little over one year old and the two main questions we get are "why" and "how". Preparing for any trip with a child requires planning and knowledge along with a TON of failing and trying over again. We hope to take what we've learned and make it way easier for you to get outside with your kiddos. Let's stop making excuses and start making memories.
Our goal is to hopefully inspire some more people to get uncomfortable, to try a new hobby, to go somewhere new, & most importantly, to not be afraid to take your child(ren) with you! Just because they may not remember it does NOT mean it isn't shaping who they are.
SO MUCH MORE:
This is new to us and we will be learning as we go. We have big dreams to be able to interview those that inspire us and all of those dreams will be made possible with your help. Remember to follow along and subscribe once the podcast is officially launched. Let's celebrate the wonders of nature TOGETHER.
Happy Listening,
Hilary
I love this article! Being raised primarily “in town” all of my life with 3 sisters, my daddy & momma found a way to insert the great outdoors to us 3. From an early age he took us to Alberts Pike, AR for camping and exploring. While we only “tent” camped once (LOL), we ended up having some of the necessities needed for girls by camping in a 18 foot bumper pull trailer. It was perfect. Two of us (sisters) were very girly girls, while the baby was much more adventurous, we all learned to love something about being outdoors exploring, swimming, riding our trail 70’s and just having a lot of unsupervised (in a very save environment) outdoor experie…
